CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – An worker with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Workplace (MCSO) was arrested for offering a cell phone to an inmate at the jail.

The detention heart introduced that 26-year-old Samara Black, a Discharge Planner with MCSO’s resident healthcare service supplier, was fired on Aug. 8 after her arrest. She started working with the MCSO on June 19, 2020.

MCSO started investigating after receiving data that Black was smuggling contraband into the detention heart. State regulation prohibits inmates from having cell telephones and it’s a Class H felony for an individual to present a cell phone or another communications gadget to somebody in custody in an area confinement facility.

“One of these criminality is just not tolerated by any individuals working contained in the detention facility and such actions solely compromise the protection of the various hard-working detention professionals who already face dangers by the sheer nature of the career,” MCSO sheriff Garry McFadden stated. “I applaud the efforts of MCSO workers and the cooperation of residents throughout this investigation.”
