Various leading brands, including Sony and Huawei, have already introduced these new and trendy earbuds, and now Bose has introduced its second-generation open-ear earbuds , named the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds.

Open-ear earbuds do not actually go inside your ear canal, but rather sit outside it. This means the earbuds don’t block your ears, so you can hear and remain aware of what’s happening around you while listening to your favorite soundtrack or podcast.

Bose Ultra Open Earbuds: Design & features

When it comes to design, open ear earbuds have some of the most inventive designs going around right now, making people question the concept until they try one in real life.

The Ultra Open earbuds are no exception. For starters, there is no branding on the earbuds. While most earbuds or headphones proudly flaunt the brand name or logo, the Buse open earbuds have none.

The earbuds consist of two parts and clip around your ears when worn. The cylindrical barrel houses the battery, while the silicone-coated arm has micro speakers that blast music toward your ear canal without blocking it.

The Ultra Open earbuds from Bose are available in Black and White Smoke colorways. A physical button is housed on the top of the barrel that rests behind your ear. This button can control music, where you can press play, pause, skip, adjust volume, and more.

This design lets you hear the surroundings without cutting you entirely off. If you want to talk to someone while listening to music, you can do that without removing the earbuds – at most, you might need to lower the volume slightly.

The open-ear design also ensures no fatigue or tiredness from wearing the earbuds for longer durations.

However, this design’s biggest drawback is losing active noise cancellation. This means that if you’re in a very noisy environment, external noise may creep in easily and could spoil your experience.

That said, the Ultra Open Earbuds are equipped with OpenAudio technology that uses a powerful transducer to deliver sound to your ear with almost no sound leaks so that no one else hears what you’re listening to.

The Ultra Open Earbuds also feature Immersive Audio, which, coupled with digital signal processing software and an onboard IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), makes the music feel immersive, as if it were playing beyond your earbuds on a stage before you.
